I think this printing tutorial will offer you all answers to your printing issue:

https://qcad.org/en/tutorial-printing
Work smart, not hard: QCad Pro
Win10/64, QcadPro, QcadCam version: Current.

I assume your print problem is based on a wrong paper position and/or printing scale. That's covered in the tutorial under "Step 2: Print Preview".

If you can't solve the problem with help of the tutorial please attach the drawing to your post. Thanks.

If you see it on the "print preview" screen (which I do) should it print what you see (which it doesn't)?

No. You should see a "white" page representing the print area. Everything what is positioned on this "white" page will be printed.

Everything else which is located outside the "white page" on a grey background will not be printed.

This example will print the rectangle but not the circle.
