[Solved] - Nesting problem

Post by ukibrian » Fri Nov 15, 2019 10:38 am

Hello,

I am trying to nest the small rectangles into the larger sheet but I keep getting the message-
"Nesting canceled. No solution found."

I select all the smaller parts, left click the larger one and then right click to start but just get the error

I cannot reproduce this problem here. What are your exact nesting parameters? Please check the options toolbar at the top before right-clicking or include a screenshot of the application in that state. Thanks.

Hi,

Thanks for the quick reply.
This is just before I right click and get the error message.

Thanks. I still cannot reproduce.

Could you also attach a screenshot of your nesting preferences under Edit > Application Preferences > CAM > Nesting.

Thanks. This looks all fine.

Some things you can try:
- Set the number of threads manually to 1 or 2 in the preferences
- Change the strategy in the options toolbar from "Hull" to "Align"
- Reset your QCAD/CAM configuration:
https://qcad.org/en/tutorial-resetting- ... figuration
- Try it on another computer if possible
- Try the latest snapshot release 3.23.0.6 (available from your download link)

If you can't get it to work on your system, please contact us for a refund.

If I do something on purpose wrongly then I'm able to reproduce the message. e_surprised

1.
I select all the smaller parts, left click inside the larger one but without selecting the contour, the command line tool will wrongly confirm "Sheet added".
Mouse right click will produce "Nesting canceled. No solution found"

2.
Same procedure but the left click to add the sheet is done anyplace else - not related to the target sheet rectangle - will produce the same message:

7 parts found
Sheet added.
Nesting canceled. No solution found.

If I select the sheet correctly - the nesting tool works like a charm ....

Question @ukibrian: If you left click the bigger part (Sheet) did you select the entities or just clicked in the middle of the rectangle?
Work smart, not hard: QCad Pro
Win10/64, QcadPro, QcadCam version: Current.
If a thread is considered as "solved" please change the title of the first post to "[solved] Title..."

Thanks Huskey.
All sorted, I was just left clicking inside the sheet. I did not know you had to do the edge......

Excellent, nice catch Husky!
I'll check if the user manual can be updated to make that a bit clearer.
