Add a viewport to a paper space block (experimental)
Hi Andrew,
This sounds interesting, at the moment I cannot acheive anything with this, how would you potentially see this working?

Re: Add a viewport to a paper space block (experimental)
Have a look at the attached file. I've added two viewports to the block "*Paper_Space0". A viewport is essentially a clipped block reference to the model space block or a window that shows an area of the model space if you want.
You can add new viewports with that tool. However, you will currently have to adjust its parameters manually using the property editor to get the area you want.

Re: Add a viewport to a paper space block (experimental)
Andrew, thanks, yes based on your example this is exactly what I would expect, however using your drawing I have tried to do the same thing with another part and I cannot get what I need showing up in the layout space - is there specific steps I need to take please?

Re: Add a viewport to a paper space block (experimental)
You'd have to set the viewport parameter View Center (you can usually leave View Target alone). View center is the coordinate of the model space shown at the center of the viewport.
Re: Add a viewport to a paper space block (experimental)
Okay thanks, I presume these options are not available yet?

Re: Add a viewport to a paper space block (experimental)
You can only view and change these properties through the property editor (after the viewport has been created) at this point.
The idea is that in a future version, you can double-click a viewport and then pan / scale it as desired.

Re: Add a viewport to a paper space block (experimental)
Thanks, I used the view port tool and selected a part on your drawing.
...and set the viewport centre but when I double click the layout space I get nothing at all!

Re: Add a viewport to a paper space block (experimental)
Maybe I'm missing some steps in between somehow?
1.Select the viewport in model space.
2. In the property editor add the centre point.
3 ?

Re: Add a viewport to a paper space block (experimental)
The viewport has to be created in paper space, not model space:
- Double click on block "*Paper_Space0" in the block list
- Misc > Draw > Viewport > Add Viewport
- Click first corner of the viewport
- Click second corner of the viewport
- Select viewport
- Adjust scale, view center in property editor
- Double click on block "*Paper_Space0" in the block list
- Misc > Draw > Viewport > Add Viewport
- Click first corner of the viewport
- Click second corner of the viewport
- Select viewport
- Adjust scale, view center in property editor
Re: Add a viewport to a paper space block (experimental)
Okay thanks, so I have double-clicked on the paper space block. How do I only select part of the drawing?

Re: Add a viewport to a paper space block (experimental)
That's where the scale and view center properties come into play. You'd have to play with those properties to get the (partial) view that you want (see above).
Note that this is all very experimental and clearly not user friendly. You might just want to wait for a future release to play around with viewports.

Thanks Andrew, completely understand and yes I am more than happy of course to wait, just couldn't help not to play though at the moment
For now I can see this being very useful for selecting full drawing layouts though, but of course I fully understand that in time it will function better, thank you Andrew, truly this will be great
