Text Dialog Text Color
With the latest software update I've noticed that editing the text in the text dialog when "Simple Text" is unchecked turns to the color of the color selected in the "color" tool button. The text stays white when "Simple Text" is checked.) This makes sense to a certain extent, except that if I select the text color in the "color button" to be white, then that overrides the text color in the layer setting. This never used to happen. Even if I select "By Layer" in the "color button" the text color remains black. So, I'm trying to edit black text against a black background.
The first attachment shows the Text dialog before I click on the text to edit it. The text shows up as white. The second attachment shows what happens to the text color when I click within the edit field to edit the text. It turns black. The third attachment shows the Text dialog when "Simple Text" is selected. The text remains white.

I'm confused about your text dialog background color. May I ask you WHY is it black?PiperPilotJohn wrote: ↑Mon Apr 19, 2021 7:10 pmSo, I'm trying to edit black text against a black background.

Re: Text Dialog Text Color
I just hopped onto a Mac running MacOS 11.2.3 and QCAD 3.26.2 and I'm seeing the same thing. I am NOT using the OS dark theme, either. The background of my text entry area is black, and black text also shows up black, so it disappears into the background. Also, the buttons in the CAD Toolbar have a white background, which is not how it looks on Win10 with QCAD dark theme enabled. When I go to Application Preferences to try and change the theme to see if that is causing this change, the theme option doesn't show up at all. I thought I'd mention this other stuff in case it's all related?

Re: Text Dialog Text Color
Okay, I think I remember Andrew mentioning that in another post a while back. I noticed when I switched to the MacOS Dark Theme, it resolved the CAD Toolbar issue, but the text entry background was still black. I'm still not sure why the "Theme" option isn't showing up under Application Preferences>General so I can try to go back to the standard QCAD theme and see if that helps. Perhaps it was disabled because the themes are causing issues with MacOS?
Update: So I went in and manually changed the theme to "Default" in my config.ini on the Mac and now the text entry background is back to white. But if I switch over to the MacOS dark theme, I get the black background again. So the OS dark mode seems to be causing this issue at least for me.

Re: Text Dialog Text Color
check to see if there are any folders within Qcad's theme folder, if there are no folders that could be why the option is grayed out.ryancousins wrote: ↑Tue Apr 20, 2021 12:06 pmOkay, I think I remember Andrew mentioning that in another post a while back. Re: Text Dialog Text Color
Ahh, yes, there is no theme folder. I just updated to 3.26.2 right before trying all of this out so does this latest version not have that folder for the Mac version I wonder?

Yes, this is on a Mac. Running the OS in dark mode. I hadn't had this problem until the latest update in QCAD.

Re: Text Dialog Text Color
It's not supposed to be. If I change the text dialog background color to any other color then the text in the drawing appears in that color. It doesn't follow the layer's color. I also have the color set to "By Layer" in the Property Editor. I don't actually have the text dialog background color set to black - it's set to "By Layer".Husky wrote: ↑Mon Apr 19, 2021 8:55 pmI'm confused about your text dialog background color.
