Directions regarding scripting markings,

Post by TreestumpExhaustpipe » Sat Jan 09, 2021 9:33 pm

I need to have fine accurate markings on an object in my design.
They are similar to ruler markings and need be very accurate as they need to be read off by a moving needle.

Can someone point me to a scripting example of something similar ?

It is not really possible to do these lines without programming them as they fall inbetween grid lines and massaging them with free(snap) is a royal-royal pain.
I used to do something similar in autocad decades ago when I was younger, and as I can remember, I think the language used was Lisp.

How do I do something similar with Qcad.

A script for ONE marking on an object - sounds like overkill to me. Here your chance to proof me wrong ....
An illustration like a sketch, screenshot or picture would help to understand the challenge ...
Work smart, not hard: QCad Pro
Win10/64, QcadPro, QcadCam version: Current.

Not just one single line ... good heavens, what are you thinking .. lol.

What about an entire micrometer scale ? I dont think entering and trying to snap that to grid or free place, in CAD is going to be better than a script.
Prove me wrong nudge nudge...

Agree! Working with grid and free placed points would scare me too.

Show me what you think about - your last chance to scare me! In the case it is confidential PM is ok too.

TreestumpExhaustpipe,
Looks like you still have private messages ...: wink:

I agree that a single solution script is far-fetched.
What if the problem has already been resolved?
Engraving scales is what I did very regularly.
If you have a syringe at home, you probably may crossed one of mine.
