Rough Cut/Finish Cut

Post by Dreamaker » Sat Sep 09, 2017 11:42 pm

I want to make a part for my bicycle, I will be using my CNC 4 axis router and will be cutting 25.4mm polycarbonate a 2D object. There will be one circular pocket and a outside profile. Now being reasonable size, I would not use a 2mm cutter, I would be using a 6.3mm/.25” cutter to do the outside profile. My problem is, in the profile I would like to do some tight inside corners like 1mm radius. So my question is: Is it possible to do a rough cut, than a finish cut? Or do I need to make two separate Gcode programs, one for rough cut and the other finish cut for the profile?

You can add a new tool, so in my example here I have T1 (6.35mm end mill) used for the round pocket hole and the first 'rough' profile cut and then T2 (1mm end mill) to fine tune the outside to get into the tight 1mm corners!

All this is within one g-code program.

For the best support please state your operating system, QCAD version and add any supporting DXF/DWG files, screenshots etc...
