Actually, I really enjoyed doing architecture tech drawings and presentations the old way, became more vivid than CAD stuff, of which I've also done a great deal.
Being retired sets limits on economy and the need for all the vast amount of very specialised functions in heavy CAD software. In what I have found out so far, QCAD fully seem to satisfy my needs as a hobbyist and in helping friends out on smaller projects.
I also plan to use QCAD in combination with MoI
http://moi3d.com, a simple (cheap) and yet very useful software for 3D illustration and printing. Developed by Michael Gibson, one of the guys behinf Rhino.
