Well I live in Uk and am semi retired having spent my career in several industries that include automotive and agricultural vehicle design and development and am not new to CAD/CAM but I am to Qcad. I have used mostly Autocad and Catia for general use but more specialised packages for producing electronic circuit diagrams for mixed mode simulation and printed circuit board design and several software programing languages for embeded control systems. Now I am taking a interest in woodwork and renovating my house and being an engineer I like to keep diagrams and drawings and have just been using microsoft office upto now. It worked but not easily or efficiently but I did not need the power and expense of Autocad so started to look at what else is around that would meet my needs. You soon realise that often price does not reflect the product and there is a lot of mis information out there that comes from people who only want more artistic representation and not precise detail. I played with many trial versions of different programs and compared price v functionality against my needs and Qcad was the winer as it delivered 2D drawing without being over powering at a good price. My initial problem with using Qcad was getting used to it's interface and the way it ticks, not having a command line or command pallete but once this little hurdle was overcome progress has been a lot quicker.

I am listing my questions as any problems arise and hopefully with the knowledge and expertise on these forums I will become more proficient quickly.

hmmm, sounds familiar.

QCAD offers multiple ways to launch tools: Menu, Shortcuts, Toolbars, Widgets, Tool Matrix, CAD Tools etc..
Most likely it will suit everybody's preferences. Oh, did I mention that there is a Command line too ...
