QCad Dimensions

Post by FABIAN » Sat Feb 05, 2022 11:21 pm

Hi all,
Great to find this forum: I am Fabian new QCad user.
Just an easy question for you. I have downloaded a trial version and I have imported a DWG file.
The "inch" is the dimension that the software uses however I have tried to change it from menu writing mm and metric system.
I tried some ways to solve it and nothing...

The original file is in mm dimension

I will appreciate your help

Hi FABIAN - welcome to the QCAD forum,

if your file is mm and you like to work in inch then you have to convert the drawing to inch below Menu / Edit / Convert Drawing unit.

Note: If you change the drawing unit below Drawing Preferences it will only "change" the name of the unit. e.g. 100 mm = then 100 inch.

If you like to have all NEW drawings in e.g. inch then you can set that below Application Preferences.

Note: If you copy/paste or import a mm drawing into an inch drawing QCAD will convert it automatically to the target drawing unit.
Work smart, not hard: QCad Pro
Win10/64, QcadPro, QcadCam version: Current.

Good day Husky,
Many thanks for your warm welcome.
I followed your suggestion without success....
Please look the image. I want to keep dimensions in mm as original file. Look the axis in the attached image, they were converted in foot and inch...
I think it could have an easy solution but I am not able to find out

A drawing is either in mm or in inch.
See Edit .. Drawing Preferences (Ctrl+I) .. General .. Drawing Unit

The "inch" is the dimension that the software uses however I have tried to change it from menu writing mm and metric system.
Meaning: The drawing is in imperial units.
To convert it to the metric system follow Husky's advice (Convert Drawing unit).

The original file is in mm dimension
Contradictory with 'the software uses inch'.
We can't see those on the screen grab, the ruler is indeed imperial.
I then assume that the original dimensions are also imperial.
Please attach (a snippet of) your original drawing or zoom in on an original dimension before taking a screen grab.

You can also PM your drawing to Husky/Moderator if you don't want to disclose it on a public forum.
(PM - Private Message, or simply click on 'by Husky')
