Hatches in Blocks

Post by CVH » Tue Jan 25, 2022 12:41 pm

All,
Coming back on crippled plants ...

A recent topic:
https://qcad.org/rsforum/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=9071

Downloaded <Potted Plants.dwg> from CAD-BLOCK.com
Block Plant8: Re-sized it to about 300 mm across (original = 0.22 mm).
Removed Hatches, cleaned it up, recreated polylines, exploded arc shaped polylines, ...
Defined proper boundaries, redone the hatching.
All fine, QCAD doesn't lag anymore.

If I merge this block in a new file (mm, mm, metric) the ANSI31 hatches are off.
One needs to select imperial patterns.

CAD-Block plant8.dxf

When I open this file or when I auto zoom manually and swap to block 'plant8' then the leaves are not fully hatched.
Turns OK when one selects the hatch itself.
Back to Model space and back to block edit mode they are again not fully hatched.

Inserted at scale 1:1 (leftmost) All looks OK. :P

Inserted at scale x2 there is already something noticeable while zooming in/out.
That also depends if the focus is on the block or not. :?

At scale x10 this is certainly more pronounced for the solid hatches.

And for scale x100 it is almost not possible to get it right unless zooming in very-very close. :(

Bottom line:
Define blocks with hatches in the used magnitude or even better: in several magnitudes larger.
Rather opt for scaling blocks down, instead of scaling them up.
Certainly don't scale them several thousand times up.

Should be solved in an upcomming release:
https://qcad.org/bugtracker/index.php?d ... sk_id=2335

I have to document the lagging with patterned hatches in blocks somehow ...
