Greetings:
I realize you are busy, but I felt I should report that I could find no documentation in the Reference Manual or elsewhere as to how to find the 'counter' or its use. It is handy for door and window schedules etc where consecutive numbering is useful. I think the project number is 1284 and is listed as completed. Perhaps there are other recent tools without documentation? I was unable to log in to that future project area so I assumed this is is the area to report it.
Regards, Nigel

Re: Documentation on Misc / Draw /Counter is it missing?
Nigel,
The addon Counter.js was created by Robert S. aka riverbuoy in 2015.

You might want to have a look at the linked forum topic for some details.
It is more a story on how it evolved.

Since early 2016, it is a permanent part of the QCAD project.
You may have read that formatting a floating point number as text can be troublesome.
E.g. an increment of 0.1 or 0.02 can't be stored exactly as a floating point value.
Andrew changed the precision option to a number format in 2020.
There is indeed no documentation file issued by the developer.
You may also notice that there is no Misc section in the QCAD Reference Manual.
So far that I know of, recent additions/changes by Andrew are all documented in due time.
Some are documented in the Tutorial section of the QCAD home page e.g.:
https://qcad.org/en/tutorial-importing- ... s-from-csv

Re: Documentation on Misc / Draw /Counter is it missing?
The "Misc" menu is the overflow section of QCAD. It is intended for complemental tools not normally part of a CAD system as well as all incomplete, untranslated, undocumented or experimental tools that might or might not be useful for someone. Some of these tools might mature and make it into the main sections of the QCAD later on. However, in the interest of keeping the other menus uncluttered, this is a careful selection process.
If you have any questions about any of the Misc tools, you can best post to this forum. We have no plans to provide detailed documentation for the tools in the Misc menu.

Thank you all.
An excellent, comprehensive answer. The links are helpful too!
I am content with whole numbers.

Re: Documentation on Misc / Draw /Counter is it missing?
I can certainly understand the logic, makes sense. However, it might be beneficial to put a brief entry in the User Reference Manual for the Misc menu that simply states basically what you wrote above. It would require no follow-up maintenance and might head off misunderstandings and forum questions.
