Good day.
I am having some difficulty in understanding lengths of entities/lines. I attach a video and a .dxf file.
Top Original is based on first drawing a polyline rectangle (not shown) and then breaking up bits and then adding line segments. This is a wierd answer for line length.
Middle is based on an exploded version of the Top Original. I think the line lengths are in fact correct.
Bottom COPY Of Original is exactly that, a Ctrl-C/Ctrl-V of the Top Original. Wierd how Property of length asks to "Show" (unlike the other 2) and seems to give a wierd answer too, but NOT same as the Top Original.
Am I doing somethig wrong???
Thanks and all the best
Oh, and also, why is Text in BLUE Layer 3 showing RED? I originally wrote text in Layer 2 (Red layer) then moved to Layer 3. Other entities change colour (as is By Layer), but this text retains original colour.???

Hi,
Win7 QCAD 3.26.2.0
Even weirder that in my case the Top case asks for "Show"
After the third pick it sums only the line entities
Considered buggy. You could file a report about that.
A solution would be setting the preferences to show all.
Also,
Remark the double horizontal line Left-High.
Top case and Botom case have one polyline.
If this is bend material, then inner angle and outer bend radius would differ.

CVH

That is by App.Prefs. See Widgets .. Property Editor .. Show all properties
Even weirder that in my case the Top case asks for "Show"
In the case without "Show", the 73.32968 is the length of the second pick, a line entity.
After the third pick it sums only the line entities
Considered buggy. You could file a report about that.

The text is red because of the Rich text color switch "\C". aka "\C1;\H16;Original"

Re: Line length confusion
Well, I would try it with a drawing that doesn't contains duplicated entities. Maybe the result is then less confusing ....
Work smart, not hard: QCad Pro
Win10/64, QcadPro, QcadCam version: Current.

Re: Line length confusion
Many thanks.
Please see attached video.
Perhaps my workflow is awkward, but the only typing were the numbers for offset and for the initial 250x8 rectangle (polyline). I am not convinced here.

Re: Line length confusion
Hi,
I asume that in your second video it is again only the sum of the line entities, disregarding the polyline left-high.
With the preference set to 'show all', summing appears to be flawless.
The same buggy nature, and I can replicate it with other designs too.
@ Husky,
With the dwg file:
It is quite easy to:
- Remove the duplicate line 3 times.
- Clear the 'show all' preference & reboot.
- Verify the buggy nature.

CVH

Re: Line length confusion
So far I can't reproduce that:
What exactly means this in un-encrypted language?

Re: Line length confusion
Okay. I think there is an "undocumented characteristic" here.
Husky mentioned duplicate entries - Not sure where they mysteriously popped up.
CVH. Under Application Preferences, the Property Editor, the "Always show all properties..." seems to have solved this issue (an application restart is required but not prompted for or mentioned). Thank you. I have since looked (albeit not exhaustively) for this setting description... not found it yet (sorta like the TAB key from the Command Line? Hotkeys are not easily found online but I did find it in an old 2006 copy of the user manual (v2.x?)- and that was a find!)
Thanks CVH... I'll edit to say solved, but not a clean solution.
Best regards
Posted whilst Husky replying. Thanks Husky, that did solve that particular issue... not sure why though.

Re: Line length confusion [Solved - sorta]
Really?! There is nothing encrypted to it!
With the preference cleared = default.
(Introduced Jun 18, 2018 : https://github.com/qcad/qcad/commit/3a8 ... 6e491d63d4)
(See Changelog: 3.21.0 (2018/06/26) aka "Add support for requestible (slow) properties")
And with a mixed selection including 'slow' properties.
- Might display "Show"
OR
Might sum the length of the two line entities only : 000 + 73.32968 + 98.246095 = 171.575775
Not being consistent with Panchdara Top-Bottom in his first video is already buggy.
Not displaying "Show" consistently with 'slow' properties is also buggy.
===== Temporary Solution =====
With the preference set, what always requires a Reboot! (Not always prompted for!)
Sums all the lengths: 166.246095 + 73.32968 + 98.246095 = 337.82187
'Slower' but flawless considering the 6 or 8 decimal digits rounding.
Was being so detailed, down to pictures and references, really necessary?
No regards,
CVH
