Problem showing filled shapes

Post by rdenning » Mon May 03, 2021 4:50 pm

HI there.
Brand new on here and with QCAD.

I have been using Draftsight and attach a dwg created from an imported dwg and extensively edited in DRaftsight.
We use this to accurately map a trade hall at a convention.
The stands are coloured in different colours.
On import into QCAD the coloured/ flled shapes just dont show although the layer is set to visible , The layer is "stand colours"
As you can see from the attached pdf the shapes do have fill.

I am running this on a surface pro with a i7 chip and 16GB ram and 300+ GB of spare drive space. Running 64bit win 10.

Version:
3.26.2.0 (3.26.2)
Internet:
QCAD.org
Build Date:
Apr 13 2021
Revision:
57092ea
Qt Version:
5.13.2
Architecture:
x86_64
Compiler:
MSVC++ 14.0 (2015)

I appreciate any suggestions. I have set background to white as we much prefer that for clarity on this map.

Hi,
A solid filled area can mean two things in QCAD:
- Solid filled hatches
- Solids (I know only one solid that is QCAD native: The dimension arrow)

There are 248 hatches found in the dwg.
All reside in blocks and are declared on different layers.
Many layers with the block reference or with the hatch itself are OFF or FROZEN.
It took a while in tracking them all down but they are all accounted for.

Couldn't find any other 'filled area' that isn't showing ... Sorry.
I did came across 'gradient fill' custom property what isn't supported in QCAD.
The export to pdf under QCAD doesn't show the filled areas.

Over to Andrew.

Regards,
CVH

Can't find any filled shapes / hatch on layer "stand colours". This is all what I can find ....

It looks like qcad has stripped out all the filed colours that are most clearly there in draftsight (you can see them in the pdf).
IN draftsight all those rectangles (or many) are filled in with solid fill colour on the stand colours layer.

Not sure why.

Not sure why.
Maybe because the dwg contains 3D elements and QCAD is a 2D program ...?

These fills are hatch objects of type gradient. Gradients are currently not supported by QCAD.
