Unwanted lines are created after saving a file
Greetings. After I save a file, whenever I open it again, it is full of unwanted lines (see picture). They go off from 0,0 position to the edges of my drawing. Usually happens when I start drawing from another dxf file. Does anyone now how to avoid that? I've tried everything, looked at hidden layers and still can't find a solution. Thank you

Re: Unwanted lines are created after saving a file
Hey there, I'm using a macbook air 2020, 1.1 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5, 8 GB 3733 MHz LPDDR4X.
Here's a file with the same issue.

Thank you.
Unfortunately, I cannot reproduce that problem here. The file seems to load and display just fine here: What is your QCAD version?

Re: Unwanted lines are created after saving a file
Thank you so much for the reply..Perhaps I sent you a file in which I deleted the lines already. Could you please try this one out and check? Much appreciated

Re: Unwanted lines are created after saving a file
The file '11440' has indeed lines on Layer0 originating from (0,0), except one.
But from the look of the picture it seems they existed already.
A real test would be to save the file without spooks ...
... It could be a drafting issue, an import, a 'File Save' or an 'File Open' issue ...
File '11480' didn't have them.
If you managed to save and post a file without them, then where is the problem?
You may understand that this is really hard to replicate at this side.
It would work better if you can replicate it for yourself every time over and over again ...
What we then need is the file you start with and what and how you added to it before you saved the file.

CVH

Howdy!
"If you managed to save and post a file without them, then where is the problem?"
If I save a normal job that I'm working on, once I open it up the lines appear. If I delete them and save it again it will work out, but I have to do that every single time. It seems like the lines appear once I work on the job. For instance, if I open, delete the lines and keep working on it and after that I save, the lines will still show up, but less of them. Does't that make any sense?

Is it possible to extract a log of the file with all that info to send it to you? how would I get the information that you need?

Re: Unwanted lines are created after saving a file
Nmurta,
What version of QCAD are you using?
I had some odd lines showing up a while back but not when saving. I’d like to mess around a little more and see if I can replicate your issue or my possible issue. Perhaps they are related.

Hi,
First of all: Please state your QCAD version?
Goto Menu > Help > About
You didn't provide any clue yet on what actions that might trigger this.
And no, I can't come up with a method that logs your actions.
File Save ... File Revert.
You should be able to narrow it down to a specific action in a few trials.
Now follows a lot of guessing ...
File '11440': Revision with remarks '11440_Re' - Don't know what came first (1) or (2) ?
But clearly there was something in the smaller rectangle delta (13.25, 13.25) from the top right corner in (1).
It also seems that the indicated spook line in (2) is copied perfectly to (3).
That can only be done on intention as the startpoint in (3) isNot (0,0).
- (3) is assumed to be the result of 'later work'.
I placed an overlay of the outer contours of (2) on (3) so that it makes a little sense.
At all the X mark I then have an offset of 0.187 inch (4.75mm).
It then boils down to 7 spooks from (0,0) to where you trimmed two line segments of the offset.
And none at line-arc trims.
What method did you use for trimming?
Can you replicate making the offset and trimming line segments resulting in spooks after File Save/Revert?
If so, clearly document how you create the offset and how you trimmed that.
PS: I indicated some other oddities in red.
I think those are not all intentional.
Some may have originated from what is explained here:

- Mine as example:
Win7 32 bit wininstaller
QCAD Professional
Version: 3.25.2.13 (3.25.2.13)
Internet: QCAD.org
Build Date: Feb 12 2021
Revision: cad2d36
Qt Version: 5.13.2
Architecture: i386
Compiler: Unknown
What you call 'work on the job' is the mystery part.

- I know of one such thing that behaves somewhat similar: Null-entities.
After Save/Revert, they pop up at the origin.
But those never resulted in visible lines as they are zero long.
Documented a few methods, filed some bug reports, some got fixed.
