problem with japanese characters
Hello,
if I turn off text replacement when I load a drawing, the text appears to me as question marks.
But it is strange that it is displayed correctly in the information.
It can be seen better in the video.
Thanks.
Tested on linux, QCadCam 3.25.2.7.

Re: problem with japanese characters
The font "simplex" that comes with QCAD does not contain Japanese or Chinese glyphs. You'd have to substitute that font for "Unicode" or a TrueType font with international glyphs (for instance "Arial Unicode MS").
Re: problem with japanese characters
Hello,
I tried it, but I didn't find any font that would display the characters correctly.
The text is corrupt or some part is completely missing.
Here are a few pictures from the loaded drawing as they appear elsewhere.
Also in the font replacement table it's kind of weird.
unfortunately I have a ton of such drawings.
This is the only thing that prevents me from using Qcad every day to the fullest,
which I'm sorry about
thanks for reading.

QCad without substitute
QCad with substitute
weird substitute dialog
and finally test file

Re: problem with japanese characters
Hello,
As you can see in the video, I will only see question marks without replacing the font,
but if I edit the text (just double-click and give ok in the dialog) the text will appear just like you,
but I have to double-click on each text and give ok
strange.

Re: problem with japanese characters
Hello,
I found a solution (workaround).
If i change language from Czech to English i don't need to doubleclicking and confirming in dialog.
The text will appear right after loading.
But some parts sometimes missing like here in points 4. and 5., 6. (look at sld2d editor picture).
But it is already a step forward
thanks.

Re: problem with japanese characters
Something isn't proper working ....
Please try this:
Load test.dwg - it should load text with question marks,
don't change anything!
save the drawing under a new name,
close the drawing,
load the new drawing - it should now load without question marks ...
... I'm right?

Re: problem with japanese characters
Nope - you did not. You used a different drawing.

Re: problem with japanese characters
Hello again,
first of all, sorry I'm testing many files.
I downloaded attached original dwg file "test.dwg" and opened in QCad.
Here is the result.
after saving i open file in QCad.
same file saved in QCad but opened in Varicad Viewer original "test.dwg" file saved from QCad.

Re: problem with japanese characters
Hi,
playing around and I got the same result in QCAD like you in Varicad Viewer. Why? I can't explain it! Maybe Andrew knows why ...
How:
load test_after.dwg (is a R32 format)
saved as test_after_R12.dwg in dwg version R11/R12,
closed / loaded
Substitute fonts to simplex again / just confirmed...
saved as test_after_R27.dwg in dwg version R27
closed / loaded
result: same text rendering like Varicad Viewer
