[SOLVED - PEBCAK error] Bug? Undocumented product characteristic?

Post by Panchdara » Sun Jan 03, 2021 4:08 pm

I don't think this affects anything, but......

YOU MUST DOCK PROPERTIES WIDGET.

New drawing.

Draw circle

Select circle

Place cursor "Specific Properties"/"Radius"

Press TAB 16 or 17 times.

Command History box filled with (not the "=========..." as I use to delineate)

Sure,
Or set the focus on command line and hit TAB.
From a docked widget you will eventually end up in the command line.

We were there already ... doesn't serve anything to repeat it.

... TAB on the command line is new to me.
viewtopic.php?t=7013#p30916

Googled it, took 45 seconds. Have a look here:
https://qcad.org/doc/qcad/2.2/reference ... ter34.html
34.1. line 4

Cheers,
CVH

Well, I must admit - I can't read everything, but this is yet another "easter egg".

Thanks for that CVH. Whilst pressing the TAB key it got "lost". Now, why this feature is available, I'm not sure why? However, it was bothering me for a while. I was thinking a memory bounds issue - I never saw the cursor in the command line as I was too wrapped up in the output being spewed e_geek

Oh well, hopefullyy my inability to read everything, and ability to be a tab presser will help someone else out - even with the egg in my face. I still think QCAD is an amazing tool.

Happy New Year. May 2021 bring certainty to our lives.

Very best

BTW, did you file a request already ...?
Or are you going to tackle the Tab-order yourself?

I think you might want to file a feature request for that ... those.

HOWEVER, here's one for you, and I'm sure this is a bug (albeit a "forced" bug)
And here the text of my PM:
  • Did I disagree somewhere?
TAB key does not place focus on next field
    - 'Yes and no'
    - 'is functional somehow'
    - 'Floating differs from docked'
    - 'It doesn't roll back'
    - 'It doesn't step from General to Specific Properties'
    - 'It doesn't stay in the Property Editor'
    - 'TAB on the command line is new to me'

Please first try to investigate Qt Widgets.
Qt Widgets have a programmable TAB order,
many Widgets together seem to have a fuzzy Tab-order.

You don't have to post a 25Mb file for that.
    File a report instead !!!

    Please don't blame me.
Or get in line behind the rest.
    CVH
Your reply:
  • I don't know why I mentioned "Tab on Command Line"... sorry.
Well, now you know.

Cheers,
CVH

There's no way I could/would ever blame ya.

I was not relating when I said "I don't know why I mentioned "Tab on Command Line"... sorry." So, I am deeply ashamed of my user mentality. (Wasn't one once)

Now I've got it sussed. Hopefully someone else will reap benefit from my humiliation. I'll have a go at the QT side - not my forte, but if I can get my head around it then perhaps it'll be less of a mystery.

No, never filed any request. I reckon best to make sure it's a feature rather than an anomaly (bug?). I rarely use docked widgets. I prefer a clean screen, so I was just playing about and messed up.

Sincerely, best.
