QCAD 3.32.0.9 / Linux x86_64

Operating system: Linux Mint 19 64 bit

I created a "QCAD DRAWINGS" folder under my home folder.

Clicked the "FOOTBALL TRAY.dwg" and got an error message.

You told the open dialog ONLY to show dxf files. Change the File Type to dwg and your file will be listed.

Hi,
We normally would post this in:
  • Chat
    QCAD 'How Do I' Questions
    QCAD Troubleshooting and Problems
Maybe you can report your own post and ask to move it.

About your question:
Look at your QCAD7.png
Look at the file extension filter.

But that will not solve your problem.
If QCAD can't Import I dought it can Open.

What is the source of this file?
Would you like to share it?
Maybe someone or Andrew can sort it out?

Regards,
CVH

nced: Despite having ordered and payed for QCAD Professional (thank you!), you appear to be running the free QCAD Community Edition which does not support the DWG format.

Perhaps this edition of QCAD came with your Linux distribution or it might be self-compiled (in the latter case, you would definitely know that).

To use QCAD Professional instead, you'd have to download it form the download link received after purchase and install and run that instead. You also might want to remove the QCAD Community Edition to avoid any confusion.

Accessing your Downloads

An e-mail was sent to you directly after purchase with a link to your download area where you can download the full version of the software and the e-book if applicable. The link is valid until one year after purchase. The e-mail also states until when the link stays valid.
No key or activation of any kind is required. This link can also be used to download the software / e-book again and to download updates until one year after your purchase.

If you cannot find this e-mail, please look also in your Spam or Bulk mail folder.

The e-mail subject is "Order / Commande / Bestellung" + your order number. Please keep in mind that you might have used a different e-mail account when placing your order.

You can request your download link again through our website at:
https://qcad.org/recover-lost-download-link

Do not download the free QCAD packages from our public web site as these are trial versions that cannot be turned into full versions.

Thank you for the reply!

"You can request your download link again through our website at:

The link I used for the download was the link sent with my "Order / Commande / Bestellung 224664 email"

Perhaps I didn't "install it correctly" in Linux Mint so I wiped the hard drive and installed Ubuntu 18.04. This is the same error message I got with Linux Mint after "RUN" was completed.........

Please notice that this download was indeed for QCAD Pro as was my original download so now my "50 download allotment" is down to 48.

The error message states that "file you opened has some invalid characters" and I don't have a clue how to solve the problem. I do have a couple decades of CAD experience running AutoCad and Microstation however I'm not an "IT person".

You are opening the installer in a text editor. You'd have to run (execute) it instead.

Andrew, thanks for your patience!

After following the "see also" link all is good now and I'm kinda red faced and embarrassed!

Thanks again!!!
