Hi, I'm new here, so please bear with me. I am trying to import a couple of files into QCAD. I've tried using Step, Iges, stl, and others and all I ever get is an unspecified error, for example: Error while importing file C:/Users/bob/Desktop/Peachtree Bridge/Drawings/Bridge/Really New Worm Tuner/RH housing 8-15 ver 1.0 convert.step.
I am using Win10 on a more than adequate system and QCAD 3.22.1.2. The files were originally exported from eMachines, but typically those open in other programs, just not this one. Any ideas or suggestions would be great.
Thanks,
Bob

Re: Importing files not working
hi, relayerbob
I am not sure but I think Qcad can not import step files.
For what I read:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_10303-21
step files are 3D.
Qcad is 2D native although it will handle non-zero Z arguments up to a point.
Your filetypes do not appear in the list on:
https://qcad.org/en/documentation/features
Try to convert your files to a supported type what also can be online.
If it's only one file that doesn't load, are you willing to post it?
Regards

Re: Importing files not working
No, it's several files. Hmm, a CAD program that doesn't do 3D? Guess it was too late at night when I bought the program. Was looking at the CAM functions, guess I didn't look at the fact that it is of almost no use for me.
Thanks
