Help! I have been using QCAD for 2 years and in the last few days it has developed a serious problem. Attempting to use the save as command either for an existing or a new drawing causes the program to open a dialogue window which "grabs" a portion of the drawing but does not allow the drawing to be saved, attempting to open a document has the same effect (see attached screenshots).
I have uninstalled QCAD (version 3.24.0.0 see screenshot too) and re-installed it but the problem persists. I have not installed new software or changed the OS setup in any way, all other software I have tried saves and opens software fine.
The Software and hardware configuration is here: https://termbin.com/8448
This problem has rendered QCAD unusable and it is used daily in my business and this is a serious problem. If I open QCAD and make a draing all the functions work fine till I come to save it then it crashes.
any suggestions?

Re: QCAD crashes on save as or open document
Try to disable (uncheck):
Edit > Application Preferences > File > Open/Save > Use system file dialog
There appears to be something installed on your system that breaks the Windows file dialog for QCAD (or likely Qt applications in general). This could be another application that installed a DLL or a virus scanner or similar software.

I Have tried both with and without using "Use system dialogue" checked and the result is the same. This is not a windows machine it is running Linux Mint 20.1andrew wrote: ↑Fri Nov 26, 2021 9:37 pmTry to disable (uncheck):

I have other QT applications on the same machine and the problem is not affecting them
any more thoughts?
Re: QCAD crashes on save as or open document
Can you try this with the Qt 5.14 trial package?

Simply extract anywhere on disk and run the "qcad" binary.
