Add the insert block library to the menu bar

Post by Prostreet » Mon Mar 13, 2023 1:57 am

Hello everyone.
I'm a retired 80 yo that is board to death.
Used Autocad for a very long time.
I used different company's programs.
Now retired, I can't afford Autocad!
I found Qcad and purchased the pro version.
Learning Qcads differences.
Without reinventing the wheel, I'd like to ask
the experts a question that I'm having difficulty
in solving.
Is there any easy way to add the block library to
the top menu bar? Instead of going through the
menu drop down?
Thank you in advance.
Jerome.

Jerome, welcome to the forum.

Toolbars are Qt QToolbars and the library browser is a QWidget.
IMHO there is no way to relocate a widget in the toolbar area.

But what about:
With your cursor anywhere in the drawing panel just type 'GL'.
This two key-code is called the shortcut, it doesn't matter if it is upper or lower case.
Simply hit the 'G' key followed by the 'L' key.

Is that more convenient than going through the menu drop down for you?
You will find all the shortcuts listed in the menus, if any.
An overview can be found here:

Thank you CVH!
Sounds easy enough to remember.
I also didn't know of all the shortcut keys.
Looks VERY helpful, I'm sure that I will get
familiar with the ones that I use frequently.
FYI Qcad is an awesome drawing program.
There is a new learning curve as to any new software.
But so far I'm really loving it.
Thank you for the support, I greatly appreciate it.
Thank you !
Jerome.
