[Solved] Making scroll bars darker or different colour
Hi Guys,
Qcad pro version 3.24. I've been using Qcad for a while but since I got a new flat screen monitor the scroll bars are almost invisible !
How do I alter or adjust the colour.
Thanks:

Re: Making scroll bars darker or different colour
Ok, I take it you're not using any of the coloured themes that ship with Qcad? You could create your own theme using Qcad Theme Designer, (written by me).....
https://www.qcad.org/rsforum/viewtopic. ... 952#p37952
This will allow you to change the colour of the scroll bars, plus many more areas of Qcad. It saves all the settings in a style sheet that Qcad reads in. You'll find a theme folder in the Qcad folder hierarchy, place your created theme folder in there. Then from Qcads Application Preferences, select that theme and restart Qcad.

Hi Pete,
Thank you for your speedy response. I've been and had a look at your "Qcad Theme Designer". I assume that the one I need to download is QcadThemeDesigner 4.0 Install Linux x64.zip.
I had no idea that different themes were available in Qcad ! I'll go away and have a play.
Many thanks for your assistance.

Re: Making scroll bars darker or different colour
The themes that ship with Qcad are mine as well but Qcad Theme Designer will not open any of them.
I should have mentioned that there are tools in Qcad Theme Designer for copying the created theme to your Qcad theme folder, File > Copy to Qcad
Have fun

Re: Making scroll bars darker or different colour
I've just uploaded an update to Qcad Theme Designer - https://www.qcad.org/rsforum/viewtopic. ... 043#p39043 - it now allows font height/bold/italic control.

Re: Making scroll bars darker or different colour
Hi Pete,
Daft question, how do I tell Qcad to use the new theme ?
I've used your app to change the scroll bar handles to a darker colour, I've also tried a completely different colour without success, nothing changes.
I did think that it might be a permissions issue, but changing them didn't make any difference.
If its any help my Qcad is a reinstall following a HDD failure, installed from the original executable supplied when I bought the program, and is not in the root directory. However QTD does find and place a Stylesheet.css in the themes directory. It doesn't overwrite anything though.
Thanks for your advice.

Hi,
It is by Preference.
See App.Prefs. .. General .. Theme.
You probably need to include the custom theme itself under the 'themes' folder of your installation.
Themes are distinguished by the sub-folder, the filename is identical.

Re: Making scroll bars darker or different colour
Once you've created the stylesheet in QTD you should save to a new folder, the name of the folder should be the general colour of the theme. Using Edit > Copy to Qcad in QTD, the folder will be copied to your Qcad theme folder, the folder contains the stylesheet.css and an icons folder. Copying just the stylesheet will NOT work as you have found out. Then in Qcad go to Edit > Application Preferences > General > Theme. Select the theme you created and restart Qcad. Hopefully that'll work for you.Derek wrote: ↑Wed Nov 02, 2022 9:09 amHi Pete,

Re: Making scroll bars darker or different colour
Hi Pete,
Oh wow !!!
The new colour scheme is quite dramatic !
Thank you for taking the time to explain to me how to change the themes. I had no idea at all where to go in the menu. Maybe this should be something made a little more obvious.
Your help is very much appreciated.

Re: Making scroll bars darker or different colour
Until I created the themes that are now shipped wit Qcad the only options you had were Default or Dark, both of which to my eyes were pretty awful.
I'm glad you've got it sorted How about a screen shot so we can see what you came up with

In the past I played with your excellent Qcad Theme Designer too. Impressive! Great addition to QCAD. Thanks for that contribution.
