[ Satisfied with Solution ] Convert Lots of Lines to Arcs

Post by John Hyslop » Wed Apr 27, 2022 1:33 am

Hi All

Is there a way to reduce the entities in this file ? at the moment it has 1078 lines..
Is it possible to convert a bunch of lines into splines and then explode to arcs?
Any help will be appreciated..

Cheers

PS I want to lasercut this..

What about a polyline with reduced segments?

BTW: Tasmania would be much less work ....

Hi Husky

I tried an AutoCAD Lisp file to convert polyline to spline but when I exploded it in Qcad I finished up with twice as many entities
Sure - but you will loose details ...
Would you mind showing an example how to do this please :D
I don't mind loosing some.. :)

Cheers

Select the whole contour,
launch "Polyline from Selection" (OC),
select the polyline,
launch "Simplify (OS),
"play" with the tolerance in the option bar to see what works best for you - I assume something between 0.1 - 0.5. The Tolerance bar has a Node indicator and a life preview is provided in the drawing too ...
