[solved] Open Two Windows at Once (on Mac OS)
Is there any way to have two simultaneous QCAD Pro windows open at once on Mac OS? The reason is that I have two monitors and I'd like to be able to have a drawing on each of them at the same time. Right now I spend a lot of time flipping between two tabs while the second screen sits idle. I tried making a duplicate of the .app folder and opening both copies at once but the second one doesn't start. In theory I could run a second copy inside a VM, but that seems a bit of a hack and there would be problems with copy-pasting between the two.

Hi,
Indeed, one can open QCAD more than once ...

I'm not a "Mac'ler" but you can do that in Windows. So, I assume it's possible in Mac too.alex_holden wrote: ↑Sun Aug 29, 2021 7:26 amIs there any way to have two simultaneous QCAD Pro windows open at once on Mac OS?
I doubt that that will work. That is not how the QCAD clipboard works ...alex_holden wrote: ↑Sun Aug 29, 2021 7:26 am... and there would be problems with copy-pasting between the two.
Please enlighten me in the case that I'm wrong ...
Work smart, not hard: QCad Pro
Win10/64, QcadPro, QcadCam version: Current.

Husky is right ... There is a separated clipboard for each GUI!Husky wrote: ↑Sun Aug 29, 2021 9:10 amI doubt that that will work. That is not how the QCAD clipboard works ...alex_holden wrote: ↑Sun Aug 29, 2021 7:26 am... and there would be problems with copy-pasting between the two.

So, Copy/Paste only works between tabs in one GUI.

Thank you! I just tried it and it works on Mac too, but you have to launch the second instance from a Terminal window using a command like this:CVH wrote: ↑Sun Aug 29, 2021 7:38 amIndeed, one can open QCAD more than once ...
See: https://qcad.org/rsforum/viewtopic.php? ... ces#p33285
Code: Select all
/Applications/QCAD-Pro.app/Contents/MacOS/QCAD-Pro -allow-multiple-instances
Indeed you are correct.I doubt that that will work. That is not how the QCAD clipboard works ...
