Finding by custom reference / id

Post by davosian » Fri Aug 06, 2021 10:25 am

I have assigned a custom property "id" to various block references. The value is unique for each block reference. The idea is that I know which specific part I have placed where.

Is there a way to search for the particular part (block reference) based on its id (the custom property)? If not, is there another way to assign searchable metadata to objects?

There's no easy way to do this (i.e. without scripting).

We've added a custom property selection filter for the next (snapshot) release:

Oh, this is exactly what would get me there. Wonderful! Knowing this, I can go ahead and maintain a custom property on my objects already.
