QCAD Pro Precision
Is there a place where I can set the precision that QCAD uses when drawing lines etc.
I work in the metric system using mm. With some other CAD software the software uses either the user specified (say 6 decimal places).
I notice in the dimensions settings there is an option to set the displayed precision. However, I don't know if this is the setting for inputting line lengths.
I like to work to a higher precision (say 6 decimal places) than that used for displayed dimensions (0 decimal places).
I hope that this makes sense.

Re: QCAD Pro Precision
Hi,
Internally QCAD works with full floating point numbers.
(~15.95 significant digits disregarding the exponent)
One can enter any value in full format.
Dimensions display in the format set in the Drawing Preference, Dimension Settings.
These settings are also used in the Status Bar (Bottom).
For new drawings that is inherited from the Application Preference, Dimension Settings.
I my case, in general, the Property Editor displays up to 6 decimal digits.
But here are 8 digits reported: https://qcad.org/rsforum/viewtopic.php?t=7543
I never was able to locate that setting.
Regards,
CVH

Re: QCAD Pro Precision
No. If I recall it correctly you are good in most cases for up to 8 digits after the decimal point. QCAD will use in the background more digits after the decimal point for calculation but that isn't controlled by a user.
Means you are good to go in QCAD ....
Note: This dimension setting for precision is ONLY the displayed precision!seasdes wrote: ↑Thu Jul 01, 2021 3:16 amI notice in the dimensions settings there is an option to set the displayed precision. However, I don't know if this is the setting for inputting line lengths.
I like to work to a higher precision (say 6 decimal places) than that used for displayed dimensions (0 decimal places).
As an example: Draw a horizontal line with a lengths of 10.12645678 mm
Dimension precision 0.00 would show up in your drawing like ...
The Property Editor shows still the actual value of 10.12645678.
Dimension precision 0.00000000 would show up in your drawing like ...
Same here - the Property Editor shows still the actual value of 10.12645678 ...

Re: QCAD Pro Precision
Husky ... Have you any idea how you have set the 8 digits for the Property Editor?
I only have 6.

Re: QCAD Pro Precision
Tried it again and no, that alters the Status Bar and the dimensions representation like explained.
None to maxed out both (App & Drawing), I always get 6 decimal digits in the Property Editor.

Re: QCAD Pro Precision
Very good morning CVH. I managed to get 8 places in property Editor, however, some properties (as highlighted) seemed to vary... please see attached.
Very best
