Scale line thicknesses when exporting

Post by ouilogique » Fri May 14, 2021 3:02 pm

Is it possible to change the line thickness scale when exporting a drawing as an image?

The idea is to make all thicknesses bolder or lighter with only one setting.

I don't believe there is any way to do that as you describe (maybe with a script?), except that there is an option to print all lines as hairlines in the print preview area. Typically you would want to choose your line weights such that they print out at the thickness you want at whatever scale and size you are printing/exporting. Sometimes that takes experimentation and adjustment. And if that means they appear too thin or thick while working on-screen, you can turn on View>Screen-based Linetypes (NL) and it will make things appear as intended no matter your zoom level, but it will still print/export based on the scale you set during that operation.

Thank you @ryancousins.

What do you mean when you write:

I don’t see a scale setting in the dwg2bmp script that exports the drawing to a bitmap, or in the export to bitmap function (XB).

I just meant that if you turn on "screen-based linetypes", the appearance of your lines on the screen will be independent of their appearance when you print or export, which are determined by the scale you set in the options toolbar when in print preview. I don't know if that is helping explain at all.
