Planting style linetypes

Post by VSteele » Mon Feb 08, 2021 3:03 pm

Hello - My first time asking a question on this site.

I'm a landscape architect and need to show areas of planting but there isn't a planting line type in the library
Question: Is there any where I can buy a planting line type or any way to make a planting line type?

Help will appreciated and thanks in advance.

can you post an example of what you're hoping to achieve ?
Line types are fairly easy to do, they are in a text file, but I'm struggling to imagine how a planting linetype would look

Hello Pete,

Ideally I need several line types to ensure that the landscape plan can differentiate between several different areas.
I've attached a few example lines.... Curves , Curves2 and Hedge.

Thanks
Vince

You need to take a look at FlexPainter, it will apply various patterns along any kind of path, line, polyline, spline etc, first you have to select the path, then start FlexPainter, the easiest way is by typing the shortcut, FP followed by return/enter key, in the command line. It can certainly apply the curved examples you show, maybe not exactly the same. Have a play, it's extremely clever.

@ VSteele:
Correct, Curves = RevisionCloud_L painter, Curves2 = RevisionCloud_LM painter
Both as continuous polylines, both are fully scalable in drawing units.
Remark that:
- Here the bulging also relies on the actual casted distance between the arcs endpoints.
- A 'Roller-stamp' smudge in too hard corners.
- Self intersection can occur.

I have sent you a Private message (PM) for more details. (One needs to be logged in)
Hedge.gif is a bit too little info, I require the actual size and ratio(s).
A painter set can also include ending features. 'Closing the hedge at the end'.

FP doesn't mind the LineStyle of the base entity. (Dashed for Hedge)
Is Hedge a grouped 1+4 sequence or 5 different sequences?

Colors should be applied manually as these are commonly based on the Layer properties.

Regards,
CVH
