Let's assume I have a horizontal line of 75' (scale: 1"=20'). I would like to draw a 10' vertical line down from that line at a point 15.3' from the left end of the line. My current approach is to use the horizontal line segment tool, set the length to 15.3' and, starting at the left end of the line, create a second shorter line on top of the first. Now I have an 'end' from which to place the perpendicular 10' line. But now I often have to go back and delete the shorter segment I used to get the distance.
It seems this is not the proper way to do this. Is there a better way?
Thanks,
Joe

Re: How do I quickly set and draw a perpendicular?
Something like this ...
How?
Tool Horizontal Line (LH) - Draw the horizontal line - 75' long,
Tool Orthogonal (LO) - option 10' length, click the horizontal 75' line,
Tool Distance (SD) - option Snap distance 15.3, hoover the mouse over the left end of the horizontal line - click when it looks correct ...
... but as always - there's more than one way to skin a cat.
Note: It is not recommend to draw scaled - always 1:1

Re: How do I quickly set and draw a perpendicular?
Thanks for the quick response, Huskey!
Your method looks pretty good to me. I like it, but I 'll have to get used to it. It eliminates having to remove the line segment my method left behind.
For others who may be reading, there were slight differences for me:
LO - then left-click once anywhere in the window (the line original 75' does not highlight) the new segment will 'float' around with the mouse
SD - but must right-click mouse in the SD distance window (without clicking in that window you will change the value in the LO distance window)
Left-click drops the perpendicular segment right in place
Note for others: the reference point selection on the LO will determine which side of the 75' line the new segment will be drawn.
As always - Awesome tool; awesome support!
