Installation of Upgrade Pro Version in Linux

Post by Ironfighter » Mon Sep 07, 2020 7:16 am

First post on here and complete newcomer to QCAD and limited knowledge of Linux.
I recently installed the Pro Version and this is the first time I have checked for Updates.
I havedownloaded the latest 64 bit version in both tar.gz and .run formats into my downloads folder.
I would like instructions on the simplest way to install the upgrade.
My current version is located in my /home/Ironfighter/opt/ folder.

Your help will be appreciated.

In a nutshell, you'll have to run (execute) the file with the .run ending.

Detailed installation instructions:

Thanks Andrew and apologies for not searching sufficiently.
I just followed the instructions in your link.
The other good news is I learned something new about linux.

Thanks again.

Unfortunately I have hit a snag. I have installed on a laptop but have a larger dual screen. QCad opens up fine on the laptop but when I drag it to the larger screen (as I was able to do prior to the upgrade) QCad crashes.
Any ideas what might be the cause and suggestions for a solution?
