Including a "live" copy of an object

Post by Tango » Mon Jun 22, 2020 6:06 am

If this is possible, I suspect there's a term for it and I have no idea what it is.

I'm doing plans of a deck to add to my barn, so I can easily haul things up to the deck with a simple hoist and move them into the loft.

I have side and front elevations of just the deck for the specs. This includes measurements and specs. I also need to show both elevations combined with the barn elevations. So I need 2 instances of the side and front elevations of the deck.

I know if I'm doing layouts for printing I can use a viewport, but is there anything like that for within the drawing space? Or any way to make a copy of something so that when I change one version, the other automatically changes?

I figure I can do this by creating an object and editing it within the object editor, but many times it helps to be able to edit in the main model space, where I can compare the front and side elevations when I'm working.

Is there a way to do this without having to edit in the block edit space?
