Rectangle tool creates four lines

Post by andrew » Thu Nov 28, 2019 7:10 pm

From a QCAD user:
I've used the rectangle tool in QCAD but it creates four lines instead of a rectangle shape object.

This is intended behaviour. Rectangle objects might be popular in illustration type software (box) but have no place in professional CAD. In CAD, a rectangle can be four loose lines, a polyline or block containing either.

To create a polyline using the rectangle tool, simply check the option "Create polyline" in the options toolbar while drawing a rectangle:

After working with CAD for a while, you will come to appreciate that loose lines or polylines are a lot more flexible than static rectangle objects and a lot more appropriate when creating complex technical drawings.
