How do I use the Point tool to create a relative point

Post by CerpherJoe » Wed Jun 19, 2019 4:06 pm

I want to establish a point 5.2' from a previous point. I have been clicking the 'Point' tool and selecting a point and then the 'Coordinate' button which provides the short menu for X and Y relative distances. I set 'X' to 5.2 and then ... what? I can't click anywhere.

Perhaps there's even a better way - what I'm trying to do is draw a line and then skip 5.2' and the resume the line.

Anyway - I would like to know what I'm doing wrong with respect to the points since I'm sure I will need that capability soon.

Thanks!

Note: I didn't see any discussion of the Point tool in the (otherwise excellent) reference manual.

There is no field for Y?

Like a dashed line?
Work smart, not hard: QCad Pro
Win10/64, QcadPro, QcadCam version: Current.

Ah ha. I was not setting the 'Y' value, assuming it was zero - it was blank. Setting to '0' works fine.

Thanks, Husky!

Also command line will allow this using the @ symbol in front of your coordinates in this format (@5.2,0) of your selected original/previous point
