infinite/vertical/horizontal lines inside a block

Post by bambuko » Tue Apr 09, 2024 1:55 pm

Let's say I have an infinite/vertical/horizontal line inside a block.

I have this block's inserted into a drawing.
On that drawing, clicking on anything belonging to this block reference selects the block, but...
(and it is an annoying but  )
for some reason any infinite lines inside block reference are not selectable ....

Trimming this infinite/horizontal/vertical line inside a block, makes it selectable in the block reference again, but...

the usual scenarion is:
use infinite/vertical/horizontal inside a block
forget about it and go back to main drawing

sometime later you notice infinite line in the main drawing,
it is not selectable (it belongs to a block), so I can't check which block it belongs to...
now starts mad search through all the blocks (and I use them extensively) to find which one has the offending line

I can not replicate that fully in version 3.27.6 nor in 3.29.4.0.
Far from the Block reference I can't select the infinite line, as if outside the bounding box of the common items.
But the infinite is selected together with any common item of the Block.

The question remains if an infinite should be part of a Block.
Blocks are intended to group geometry that belongs together as a complete sub-part.
Infinite lines are usually used for construction lines and that is mostly not something that belongs to the part geometry.

CVH

Yes, that is what I have tried to describe :?
If you manage to use/select something other than one of the "infinites",
than infinite line gets selected as a part of inserted block refrence together with everything else.

But try to select inserted block by picking /selecting an infinite line which is part of the block...

I kind of agree...
but where does it say in the manual that you cannot leave construction/infinite lines in the block?

it's easy when you are just modelling something that is already designed
Try to do it, when you are in the middle of creating/designing something

P.S.
I have updated my version
(no point paying and then not downloading updates e_surprised )
