Dashed lines, Sketch, 2D, single layer

Post by NJLeather » Tue Apr 02, 2024 6:23 am

This has been addressed in terms of wiring diagrams and other scenarios where layers are best...

But I need to have both solid and dashed lines on a single layer 2D sketch.

How can I achieve that?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

It is common that the attributes of entities that live on a layer are inherited from the layer.
For that we use 'By Layer' for the entity properties: Color, Lineweight and Linetype.

You can also force something different with using custom attributes for each entity.
For a selection of entities simply select the required attribute from the drop down boxes in the Property Editor.

For good practice I can only refer to: https://www.ribbonsoft.com/en/tutorial- ... ith-layers
I see no reason that your application MUST have different styles on a single layer but that is really up to you.

Don't think of CAD layers as planes stacked on top of each other or as having different levels ... elevation ... drawing order.
In CAD, layers are intended to group things that must display alike, print alike.
Continuously/dashed/dotted/... and/or Thick/thin/... and/or Black/red/blue/...
