Hi! I'm working on a construction drawing involving ~800 ft. of sidewalk, and there are key segments of the plan I need to produce detail sheets for. I know there are ways to define section markers and align them with the site plan, but I'm not clear on how best to proceed.
I believe AutoCAD automates some of this from what I'm reading, but I've never used that functionality and want to stick with QCAD. I have found plenty of section marker blocks, but how about the techniques to lay it out and produce plots properly? Any ideas?
Thanks!

Thanks CVH, viewports are definitely going to be useful, but I need to also better understand how to set up the overall plan view with a grid, then drill down with section detail views and maintain continuity.CVH wrote: ↑Sun Jun 20, 2021 3:14 pmHi,

Here's a video that does a good job of explaining the different aspects of such plans, but doesn't cover how to produce them. I'm sure QCAD can be used to create this, but I wish I could find a non-AutoCAD introduction to such technical drawing skills, even based on manual illustration, that covered such fundamentals.

Hallo ...
I named this block "Section marker VL". VL stands for Vertical Left.
Based on this block I designed 3 additional blocks (...VR, ...HD, ...HU) so that I can cover 4 directions.
Why not only 2 blocks and then flip them during the insertion? Because text in blocks will be mirrored when you flip them ...

Here I covered two sections ...
So much to your question: Any ideas?
I would probably design the basic blocks for all common possible direction. A basic block could look like this one:
