I have a architectural mode drawing where the ruler measurement give conflicting results.
My menu selection is:
Ruler / point to point / on entity.
the shorter distance is measuring 3 1/4" (correct)
a parallel line which should be further away is measuring 2' 11 11/16 (way wrong)
I have the grid at 1/8 inch (if it matters).
BTW the rectangle , triangle and circle were to be used in a description then I decided screenshots were better.

Re: Ruler measurement error
Hi,
To get rid of the 3D information try Menu / Misc / Modify / Flatten drawing to 2D and try again ...
The very left vertical line has 3D information (Y). QCAD is a 2D application and not capable to handle 3D.

Re: Ruler measurement error
Thank you
That leads to two questions:
1) How might 3d information have been created? I imported the partially complete drawing from AudoCad Lite I think R12
2) Is there a way to tell if there is Z axis info?

Re: Ruler measurement error
1. Yes, most of the time the drawing was used and saved in a 3D program. dxf version like R12 shouldn't matter ...
2. The QCAD property editor provides an option to show 3D values for Y. To find those entities it is like searching for a needle in a haystack ...
