Alternative Linux themes *SUPERSEDED*

Post by petevick » Wed Jan 13, 2021 8:46 am

This topic is going to be locked and will be superseded by the Linux OS and Windows OS Themes topic at viewtopic.php?f=30&t=7994&p=31280#p31280

I blame this on the lock down !!

I've put together a few custom QT stylesheets that give new theme options for QCAD.

Please note these will only display correctly in Linux, there are issues in the macOS which renders them useless, no idea about Windows OS, dropped that years ago.

Windows OS users, keep an eye on this post, the next update will be compatible with Windows! :D

There are three themes called Heather, Light Grey and Dark Grey. As far as I can tell I think I've got all aspects of the themes covered, please let me know if you use it and find anything you think I may have missed. Please feel free to adapt it to your own theme should you so wish. Also let me know if you want a particular Linux theme replicated and I'll see what I can do. I do have other themes in the pipeline, I'll upload them when complete.

To use these themes extract the three folders from the zip file and place theme in QCAD's theme folder. After starting QCAD, go to Edit>Application Preferences>General>Theme and select any of the new themes from the drop down box. Press the OK button, close down and restart QCAD, the new theme should be displayed. Enjoy......hopefully

I accept no responsibility should your PC/laptop explode and burn down your property whilst using this theme

I've made a few minor revisions to the Heather, Coffee, Light Grey and Dark Grey themes. Simply overwrite any you are using with those in the attachment.

I've also added an enhancement to the Default theme, it gives a more tactile feel. To use it simply extract the Default folder in the attachment to QCAD's theme folder. Go to go to Edit>Application Preferences>General>Theme and select Default from the drop down box. If you prefer the stock Default theme, simply delete the themes/Default folder

Oh oh - I installed it on Win10. I'm now in trouble???

And it looks already pretty good. Ok, not perfect but good. Thanks!

I built in a virus for Win10, hasn't it activated yet :?: :?:

Sounds like it's not as bad as on macOS, what kind of imperfections are they?

Yeah I might be able to see if I can fix it, bit tricky not having a Win10 box though. Would it be OK to send you direct if I think I can fix it for you to try? The problem could be that a fix for Win10 might mean it breaks in Linux, but we'll see.

Looks like there are only three little issues - I marked it on the heather screenshot. I'm sure you will find more ...

Wow, that's actually not that bad, and I might be able to fix the right hand vertical bar without affecting Linux. Not sure about the other two areas, but I'll have a look.

Hi Pete
I hope you don't mind, I was going to ask for a Cyan theme but decided to have a go myself :-)
If I've made any obvious mistakes please feel free to update and repost...

Cheers
