Like what does the blue and red squares mean?

I did find a reference manual out in Google land. Don't know why I can't find the same manual via the QCAD "Help" pull down.

Still looking before I buy.

QCAD is not as good, in my opinion, as my long ago Blueprint program which is no longer supported. Which is why I looking at QCAD.

Thanks for responding.

My QCAD Pro reference manual works like a charm. Tell us the address of "your" online reference manual and maybe we can figure out why it isn't working.

Everybody should do that! It took me years to find a adequate replacement for my used CAD system. The problem is always: We are stuck to used habits. A new system may be different but that could be also a good thing. I never regretted my decision to buy QCAD Pro - and no - they don't pay me for a positive statement.

Try the trial and if it doesn't works for you then don't buy it!

Found documentation. Help pulldown give me version 3.22.1. What I found on internet was version 2.2. OK, Don't know what my problem was.

Now trying to figure out dimensions. I make a object 5/8 of inch which is shown as .625. I want it to show as 5/8. I set, in dimension preferences, fractional. What am i missing?"

I'd also love to get the QCAD test version that doesn't quit after n minutes. That a pain.

If i am able to build my birdhouse to my satisfaction I'll buy. I still have hopes. I've given up using my apple wireless mouse which jumps around like I have palsy. I presume the only one in the world.

Slow process for me.

That should work. If not please attache the drawing (dxf/dwg) so that we can see all other used settings? Thanks.

The trial gives you the possibility to test all Pro functions before you buy. It is not intended to use it as a productive software packet. If you are done with testing you can convert it to a free version and it'll not quit on you again

I'm pretty confident that you can build a nice birdhouse! If you are done and you like to share the result please post a screenshot of it.

I must be nuts. This morning I did a screen shot showing my dimension prefs and part of the drawing which I just did a horizontal dimension. As you can see it shows .625?

Also when I looked at the file I sent you it shows fractional setting.

Don't understand. Maybe something to do with test version of QCAD. But how? ?(wanted to put this sentence bold type?)

At least what you show is exactly what I wanted to do and I did what was correct. It just doesn't work for me.

Perhaps you're changing application settings (defaults for new drawings) instead of drawing settings?

Make sure to use Edit > Drawing Preferences

Thanks for not suggesting, RFM. It was in red in QCAD preferences if I'd read it.
