Post by _jay_ » Wed Feb 26, 2020 1:30 pm

Hi, i'm building my cnc plasma, and going the Linux CNC route as i have the MESA ethernet boards.

so QCAD CAM can replace Sheetcam with an all-in-one solution ? CAD + CAM ?

i was planing on Librecad or inkscape for CAD and Sheetcam as CAM

That depends largely on your exact requirements.

Please refer to our QCAD/CAM tutorials to get an idea of what is possible with QCAD/CAM at this point:

QCAD/CAM Introduction:

QCAD/CAM Nesting:

And of course, you can download a free trial version from:

Well, tnx for the answer, as for my "exact requirements" i'm looking for a simple easy to use 2D CAD and a simple CAM like SHEETCAM
And i stumbled on QCAD + CAM

I'm a newbie on CAM stuff so i'm getting easyly confused, Any feed back from LinuxCNC using QCAD CAM for plasma cutting ?

Hi Jay,

What would be your main requirements - just profile cutting, drilling, or would you need other options like Vcarve, engraving etc?

What would be your usual medium, wood, plastics or metals?

Many thanks

Clive
For the best support please state your operating system, QCAD version and add any supporting DXF/DWG files, screenshots etc...
