Re: Layers and changing layers attributes
Hi Guys, I just came to bed and tried the new version of QCAD, 3.10 on my Macbook retina and everything works fine with layers. I tried the old files and new ones and it is fine. Simple and powerful. So it must be a silly settings difference between my iMac and my Macbook. Perhaps I have the iMac se...

Re: Layers and changing layers attributes
I tried yet another file from scratch. The default New. Apart from layer 0 I created 2 other layers: Red layer and Green layer. I drew a line with each layer and appended the edit layer dialog box to see how I set the layer attributes. But as you can see both the red and green layers show a line lik...

Re: Layers and changing layers attributes
Ok I started a new file with three layers and enclose a screenshot highlighting the red layer and its corresponding Edit Layer dialog box. I then reloaded the same file and changed the linetype and lineweight of the red layer. Then drew another line and nothing happened, the changes are ignored. See...

Re: Layers and changing layers attributes
Hello Andrew, Here is the info you requested, two attachment. If these check ok I will send the dxf file. But basically you can reproduce the fault yourself by defining a set of layers first with only colour attributes. Then draw a couple of lines to save the file. Thereafter reload the same file an...

Message for Andrew
Can I bring to your attention my feeling about QCAD after becoming a user for the last two or three weeks approximately and used it intensively on some 2D geometric figures I am drawing? My conclusion is that the program, attractive as it may be, is QCAD centric rather than user centric. What I mean...

Layers and changing layers attributes
I have a drawing with some 18 different layers. Each layer attributes is the same except for the colour which is different and specific to each layer. It all works fine. However, if I select any of the layers, except layer 0, and change any of the attributes, line type or line dimension, the changes...

Re: How to use blocks- Can a block be nudged?
Simple question: Can a block or selection be moved (nudged) from the keyboard using the arrow keys? I've tried different combinations but found none.

Re: How to use blocks
Good morning Husky. Thanks for your replies. I will reply to your answers progressively. Scale Tool. I know how this works but it does not do scaling in the AC fashion. It is fine but somewhat limiting in some instances such as the work I am doing now where I have to scale a block over a picture of ...

New User of Qcad
Since I am using QCAD a lot now I thought of introducing myself. My name is Al, short for Alfie and I live in the UK. I am a retired semiconductor scientist and have been knowledgeable with Autocad since the early DOS days. My last copy was Autocad 2002 which I still have. I did not use CAD in my ca...

Re: How to use blocks
Thanks for your reply, Husky. I am pleased to hear that these functions are already part of the current version of Qcad. I have been trying this function for the last 30 minutes and I don't find it so straightforward and the choice of name was not at all helpful. No criticism implied, I will work wi...

Re: How to use blocks
Hi and thanks for your reply. I had to refresh my mind before answering, so I installed my old copy of Autocad 2002 for Windows on my iMac 5k; I had to install Windows first under Bootcamp and it works fine. In short: I was remembering correctly, this "dynamic" feature, as I called it, was available...

Re: QCAD Pro Inactive after launch
This is something that has changed in the most recent versions of Mac OS X. If you are comfortable working with a plain text editor, you can work around it by changing the file QCAD-Pro.app/Contents/Info.plist and removing the following 2 lines: <key>LSUIElement</key> <string>1</string> Yes I am co...
