Re: Grid and Meta Grid
Hi, A grid is a rectangular pattern of dots and/or lines that covers the entire XY plane. It is an overlay and will not be printed. In QCAD the dots are the Grid points and the lines are the Meta Grid. One can however prefer to format the Grid as solid lines: menu View .. Application Preferences .. ...

Re: How Do I Stay Logged IN?????????????????????
First QCAD is completely FREE. Then it is $42! But there really is a free version. But I can't get it for reasons, UNKNOWN. So I pay $42! Answered here: https://www.qcad.org/rsforum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=6712#p43534 Yes, QCAD CE is completely free. No, you can not download it, you can trial QCAD Prof...

Re: Installing On A Chromebook
But when I tried to run the program once more, it could not start anymore. The Qcad window opens but icons are greyed out. A trial version is limited in time per session and can be opened a limited numbers of times. Perhaps it failed to register the session after the initial run ... Guessing. I can...

Re: QCad and linetypes drawing issues
The linetype list shows correctly lines, but not on the lines. See the capture. The capture also shows that Screen-based Linetypes are active. Never seen a drop-down box before that spans the entire screen. Please provide in the file seen in the capture. And perhaps we need to verify the *.l...

Re: QCad and linetypes drawing issues
Recent QCad doesn't draw correctly linetypes from Autocad generated files (dwg), Is that using Screen-based Linetypes or not? no text on the line for example Custom Linetypes or especially those that include shapes (=text) may not be displayed 'as-is' using Screen-based Linetypes. This is to speed ...

Re: [SOLVED] Is there a "free" version?
Hi, I also have seen the "completely free" words used but it seems that it is very difficult to actually get that free version. The trial versions are downloaded from the main download page: https://www.ribbonsoft.com/en/download That are fully functional versions of QCAD Professional or QCAD/CAM wh...

Re: Newbie Question: Dimensions not displaying accurately
For some reason your linear measurement factor is 2.81690141. When adding a dimension the scale should be 1:1. See dimension tool options in the Options Toolbar usually just above the drawing panel. Most QCAD tool use this Toolbar for listing their options. To fix the existing dimensions. Select the...

Re: Tool options persistence
Tom,
Persistent preserving these options was and is still the intended behavior.
Now fixed for MacOS and Andrew also closed FS#2503 (11.11.2023) as "Implemented" after my PM that FS#2503 === FS#2525.
So it should be fixed for MacOS in the upcoming release and or snapshot.
Regards,
CVH

Re: Tool options persistence
Hi, For 1 you probably mean the Keep Proportional option, keep aspect ratio, the chain icon. Well ... for so far that I know the state of that is preserved persistent between usages. Or it should be or it was like that ... For a Windows OS installation that is. The option state is stored in QCAD3.in...

Re: Get DrawOrder to work for a bitmap
How can I get a bitmap to appear "behind" other layer items ? Remind that there is no drawing order based on layers. Do not think of CAD layers as stacked planes to draw on, they are listed in alphanumerical order. Layers are generally intended to control drawing attributes of the entities that liv...

Re: Revision Cloud Tool
Revision cloud would be good. Hi, Using color coding for revisions on plans is something totally up to you. One can always print and present them in Black/White when that is an issue. Revision clouds are simply line-art that is drawn around text or geometry to highlight the area of interest....

Re: Nesting order of quality?
Hi, Glad to help you out. The calculation speed gain is mostly the result of the simplified design of the parts. Also beneficially in a later CAM stage there an offset of very short tangentially connected arc segments may mathematically fail. NFP shape failure
Andrew, I took 2 shapes from the file provided by jbergen in this topic: https://www.qcad.org/rsforum/viewtopic.php?f=74&p=43488#p43486 I then used the following method to draw the NFP of one vs the other and inversed: QCAD/CAM .. Misc .. Draw .. No-fit Polygon Not going into the minute details beca...

Re: Nesting order of quality?
Not really convinced. Although I have limited access to QCAD/CAM using a trial version ... I still see the "Align" strategy lists results with fewer placed parts higher in the list. One thing that throws me off is that nesting starts with calculating xxxx NFPs (No-Fit Polygon). The value of xxxx var...
