Hello from Dallas, Texas
Hi everyone. I started programming computers in '83, but I'm new to CAD. I tried several CAD programs before settling on QCAD. Has a good feel to it, and the hotkeys rock! You'll see my name a lot in the forum. Not because I want the notoriety but because I'm dumb as a box of hair when it comes to u...

Re: Possible corrupted files?
Here's that file. Load it and click on Layout1 (*Paper_Space) in the Block List.

Re: Possible corrupted files?
Problem solved. And still unsure how this was happening. I did have a template to load on File -> New, But I was deleting it to have a clean drawing area. Somehow, and that's the weird part, the title block from THAT template was somehow appearing in the Layout1 space when I'd drag out husky's 8.5x1...

Re: Possible corrupted files?
Let me be more specific. 1. I start a new drawing: File -> New. No template. No nothing. 2. I click on Layout1 (*Paper_Space) in the block list 3. I click Library Browser and go to the dir the Husky templates are in. 4. I highlight the 8.5x11 template and drag it into the white space. And I get not ...

Re: Possible corrupted files?
As a follow up, I just created yet another foler (qcad/libraries/default/husky1) and extracted the tepmplates into it from a fresh download of them. Same thing. And it's only with these templates. The blocks from the other folders under /default drop onto the model space and layout space just fine. ...

[solved] Possible corrupted files?
I made a title block a couple days ago. Just a little something for the lower right corner of the drawing sheet. I saved it to a folder inside QCAD/libraries/default/Templates. Then I read a post warning not to save files in the QCAD file hierarchy itself, due to updates and possible file damage. So...

Re: Scaling Confusion
Hi Husky. Thanks for responding. I assume you are doing that for printing purposes, correct? Truthfully, I'm new to this. New to CAD. A relative is opening a business and asked me to learn it. They sent me some *dwg drawings of products that were all scaled up x48 from 8.5" x 11". All I know is I ca...

[solved] Scaling Confusion
Hello again, Forum. Being new to CAD, I'm finding my way through the woods in small steps. This forum's been generous in helping me, and that's much appreciated. Now, on to my next dilemma :D Scaling's tripping me out. I created a template 8.5" x 11". When I get ready to use it, I scale it up by a f...

Re: Diameter Symbol
When I read through the help file, I must've missed that. Thanks for pointing it out. Very nice feature.
Is there a way to make that default so I don't have top type it in each time?

[solved] Diameter Symbol
Is there any way to make the diameter symbol show on dimension lines? I have some drawings made with another CAD program. In them, when a dimension is shown for the diameter, I can see the symbol. But when text is attached to a leader, the symbol shows as a question mark. So, aside from making a blo...

Got it. Thanks, Andrew.
Nice program, btw. I hope the Debian installer will be added to the mix soon. QCAD's nice, though. Robust and feature rich.

Re: Title Block Attributes Lost
When I click the block and go to Block -> Edit Block, nothing happens. But if I double click the block, it takes me to Edit mode. I'm cool with that, but I thought you'd like to know that I can't get there from the Menu. And thank you for the information. Now I know :D OS: Linux Mint 18.2 Version: 3...
