Re: Drawing scale and dimension size
So the solution is to set the size attributes of dimension entities in Drawing Preferences before beginning to dimension the part? Yes, you should think about your drawing scale before you start your drawing and set up the preferences accordingly. However, you can adjust these settings anytime late...

Re: Drawing scale and dimension size
Below is an excerpt from the QCAD book about text sizes. It also applies to dimension sizes (dimension label text height, arrow size, etc). Dimension sizes are configurable per drawing under Edit > Drawing Preferences > Dimension > Dimension Sizes. Text Height Before you create any text labels, you ...

Drawing scale and dimension size
From a QCAD user: My problem is getting dimension entities and text to appear at their proper size when a steel part 78" long is scaled down to fit on an 8.5" x 11" page. The arrowheads and the numerals shrink along with the part, and vanish into a blur hardly wider than the pen weight. The extensio...

Re: Centreline Cross
Thanks riverbuoy! This works great. I've added this tool to our repository for future QCAD releases. I've only made one small modification to add the two center lines in one transaction, so the tool can be undone in one single step: https://github.com/qcad/qcad/commit/eaf1d4759ca144117ae2e332139848d...

Re: Create block from selection, block vanishes
One cannot modify or create anything on a hidden layer. You should see a warning in the command line history that the transaction has failed.aaa wrote:Yes, but when I display layer 1 again, the "disappeared" block do not reappear !

Have a look at the pen tool bar:aaa wrote:Is it possible to have "By block" by default, instead of selecting that option for each new line I draw ?

Re: Cannot hatch : pattern files not visible in the list (GU
I'd recommend looking into the official tar.gz for Linux and replicating its directory and file structure: http://qcad.org/en/qcad-downloads-trial QCAD is best installed to and run from one single directory containing the binary and all resources. That directory (call it 'application bundle' if you ...

Re: How do I define a Color etc. for a Block ....
Note that "By Block" actually strictly speaking means "By Block Reference". Unfortunately, the term 'block' in the context of CAD can mean a 'block definition' or a 'block reference'. Block definitions do not have attributes. They are not on a layer either. Each block reference is on a layer and has...

Please report this bug to the person who did the FreeBSD port. Hatch patterns should reside in subdirectory 'patterns' of the QCAD installation directory.

Re: Create block from selection, block vanishes
If I select layer 1 and I hide it, when I group them, the new block disappear. This sounds correct. If 'layer 1' is the current layer and you create a new block with block reference, the new block reference will be put on the current layer ('layer 1'). If 'layer 1' is invisible, the newly created b...
