Re: Nesting order of quality?
Hi, Glad to help you out. The calculation speed gain is mostly the result of the simplified design of the parts. Also beneficially in a later CAM stage there an offset of very short tangentially connected arc segments may mathematically fail. NFP shape failure
Andrew, I took 2 shapes from the file provided by jbergen in this topic: https://www.qcad.org/rsforum/viewtopic.php?f=74&p=43488#p43486 I then used the following method to draw the NFP of one vs the other and inversed: QCAD/CAM .. Misc .. Draw .. No-fit Polygon Not going into the minute details beca...

Re: Nesting order of quality?
Not really convinced. Although I have limited access to QCAD/CAM using a trial version ... I still see the "Align" strategy lists results with fewer placed parts higher in the list. One thing that throws me off is that nesting starts with calculating xxxx NFPs (No-Fit Polygon). The value of xxxx var...

Re: Nesting order of quality?
Hi, This doesn't seems to be right ... e_surprised Is it possible to add the source document for testing? Please indicate your OS and QCAD/CAM version. Please list your Application Preferences for CAM .. Nesting and the used tool Options. Size is probably a bounding box around all placed items and m...

Re: QCAD/CAM and FluidNC
I home the machine, manually jog it to the start position of the workpiece (left, front and top) and then use G10 to set the working position to 0,0,0. That sounds right, G10 sets the CNC origin. Remind that a CNC driver can usually handle more than one coordinate system. In my case that is G10L2P1...

Re: A way to apply color to layers, in bulk.
Is there a (script or) UI approach that could apply random colors to these layers, in bulk? Or a mapping interface where you could have a text file with something like the following Yes these things are perfectly possible with scripting. I don't see the purpose of random colors but how distinct sho...

Re: No 3D CAM preview menu item
The odd looking inside path is probably the result of radius compensation and lead in/out. Possible even with G41/G42 and 'Overcut'. As presented it will indeed ruin the lower left inner corner. Is it an error? Not necessarily, it is the mathematical approach of the chosen settings. It is pra...

Re: QCAD/CAM and FluidNC
Hi, Simply said: The CAM origin is the drawing origin. Or meaning that (0.0, 0.0) in CAD is where you zeroed the CNC machine. QCAD/CAM has no method to move the origin ... But everything can be translated relative to the drawing origin. Homing is something between the physical machine and the logica...

Re: QCAD command line execution JS script problem
WildWolfCJ, The switch is intended for this purpose and I did not expect anything different. Note that it is not really "in the background" ... ... Executing a command line script with this switch runs in another instance of QCAD. With this switch one can run more than one instances of QCAD with or ...

Re: Missed e-mail - Update link now expired
Hi,
If the link expired on 9th Sept 23 that means that you initially purchased a licence on 8th Sept 22.
Your licence is forever and that includes one year access to updates.
For renewed access you could purchased a new licence.
There is a deduction code for renewing your licence.
Regards,
CVH

Re: qcad 3.29.2 not displaying SL spline (fit points)
never noticed the order of the tool matrix, but seems to be in the same order it always has been for me, At first glance they looked to be arranged not in the order I am used to. But being in reversed order is not entirely correct ... For example: The GIF shows that you draw a spline from co...
