Re: Calculate curve to make two curved panel fit together
In the long, long run, I'm thinking of using FreeCad to do a 3D version of these pieces. And maybe designing an exploded view. All good fun. Probably good for solids but I don't think that there is a corrugated cardboard method and rendering engine included. Being a 3D concept and preferring FreeCa...

Re: Calculate curve to make two curved panel fit together
The intersections were good, but the panels were short by about 1/4". I'm not sure why. Perhaps the fluting. From the spreadsheet data: Required elongation for a 22.418203541554" long arc is 1.01% or 0.226424" more and that fits the 1/4" .... Your flat face needs to be scaled 1.01% up in len...

Re: CAM path set to Z=0 on spoilboard: tried but tabs not working
First, industry standard or not, the guy probably refers to mills with a T-slotted metal surface. Mostly not intended for sheet material. It is called a SPOIL-board for something ... A cheap board that can be spoiled. I know of major players that advice Zwork-zero = top of material. He shortcuts mat...

d40_dome_arch_0,2.dxf - The fit is (again) found to be not that great, within 0.0321". - Your top octagon center is (again) placed 0.00128791164035932 to the right of the lower/larger one. .... Same horizontal offset as here: https://www.qcad.org/rsforum/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=10725&start=15#p44276 -...

Re: Calculate curve to make two curved panel fit together
Here is the v0.2 32 arch design I am working with. I thought it was correct. Yes, and the arc has radius 11.97825461, diameter 23.95650922, sweep 84.59518924, length 17.6854687 048369 Not diameter 32 because 32 is your dome designation. A spline from the correct numbers fits within 0.0000000000001 ...

Re: Calculate curve to make two curved panel fit together
Within 0.8414" I can't call close at all. I call that way off. It should be almost not noticeable, better than 1e-10, only detectable with specialized measuring tools. e_geek There are faults in your spreadsheet: - Missing point #0 - 0 degree - 0 radians on row 10. - 72 times 5 = 360, the 73th point...

Re: [solved] Very Strange Behavior - Corrupt DXF?
HappyShat, As is, there where 45 visible and 533 invisible entities with NonZeroZ coordinates out of 602 drawing entities. QCAD is capable loading such files and even creating such files. (QCAD/CAM exploits 3D information in toolpaths) Functional up to a point, QCAD drawing tools are mostly intended...

Re: Calculate curve to make two curved panel fit together
Thanks! Can you explain (1) how you calculate the fit points, so I can do it myself at home. Already explained earlier: https://www.qcad.org/rsforum/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=10725#p44210 In a Spreadsheet: - Column A: Row 10-82 = values 0-72 (nn below is 10-82) - Column B: = Ann multiplied by 5 => Degre...

Re: very slow to work
@ Jkiss If you could share such a file we could have a look at it. 1400 Line segments should not be an issue but remind that QCAD is basically 2D. If considered proprietary then attach it to a Private Message. Easiest entry point is double clicking on my user name and take it from there. Regards, CVH

Re: Calculate curve to make two curved panel fit together
About 40 flutes per foot = 12 inches would ideally segment the outside with edges 0.3 long. The outer curve of R = 12.92522 + 0.15 is 20.46241354 long. But segmented it is about 20.46196722 long. We need to keep the width of the developed interior to make it fit laterally, but the length needs to be...
