Re: indicator that shows what tool is currently active

The tool bar might have been moved outside the desktop. The last resort is always to reset QCAD to its initial state by deleting the configuration file: rm ~/.config/RibbonSoft/QCAD3.ini If you want to keep your settings and only reset the layout, you might want to only remove the line: DockappWindo...

Re: Turn on front, side, elevation views

Yes. This is how it is usually done with a 2D CAD system.

Re: Draw line tagent

Tangents from points to ellipses should be possible with QCAD 3. Tangents between two ellipses are currently not supported.

Re: Optionsmaße +r ???

r = Radiant

Diese Angabe macht nur bei Winkelangaben Sinn wenn die Eingabe in Radiant erfolgt - QCAD interpretiert Winkel ohne Angabe als Grad.

Beispiel für polare Koordinate:
@10<1r

1r = 360 / (2 * pi) ≈ 57.2957795 Grad

Re: Moving entities to different layer

Moving selected entities to a layer by double-clicking the layer will be available in QCAD 3 final again.

For now, you can use the property editor:
- View - Tool Bars - Property Editor
- Select entities
- Change layer property in property editor

Re: Installing RC5 on Linux Mint 13 cinnamon

When installing with the tar.gz package, you don't have to change any file permissions or make anything executable. After extracting the tar.gz, you can run QCAD by running the file called 'qcad'. E.g.: tar xfvz qcad-3.0.0-rc5-prof-linux-x86.tar.gz cd qcad-3.0.0-rc5-prof-linux-x86 ./qcad Assuming th...

Re: Installing RC5 on Linux Mint 13 cinnamon

Please try to be much more specific as to what the problem is. E.g. - You don't know what to do with the downloaded file. - You have installed QCAD but it does not run (error messages, what happens when you try to run it, etc). - QCAD runs but does not behave as expected. - etc. Thanks. P.S.: The ba...

Re: Turn on front, side, elevation views

Sure: the top and side view were drafted as usual with the QCAD 2D tools. the '3D' view is an isometric projection which was created from the front and side view with the isometric projection tool of QCAD.

Re: dxflib help

dxflib parses DXF files and hands you the information in the file in a comfortable manner. For example, for every line entity in the DXF file, a function called 'addLine(...)' of your own C++ class is called with as parameter the start point and end point of the line. Note that dxflib does not do an...

Re: QCAD 3 RC5 lent

QCAD 3 might be somewhat slower to load on older hardware. Especially a slow hard drive can slow it down as QCAD 3 uses many scripts which are stored on disk. Drawing display should have about the same performance as QCAD 2, when zoomed in, QCAD 3 should be significantly faster. Snapping should also...

Re: Turn on front, side, elevation views

There appears to be a misunderstanding here.

Top, side and front views which automatically display the appropriate perspective of a 3D model only make sense for 3D CAD applications or modellers.

QCAD is a 2D CAD system.

Re: Invalid or incomplete DXF format when opening in AutoCAD

QCAD 3 (currently release candidate 5) improves file format compatibility and also lets you export to various older versions of DXF to target a specific version of Autocad. TrueType fonts are also supported.

Re: Turn on front, side, elevation views

If you mean to display multiple views (viewports) of the same drawing, you can choose the desired layout in the application preferences:
Edit - Application Preferences - Layout - Viewport Settings
