Re: Rotating an object when I don't know the exact angle to rotate

All I can do is select and deselect the button. Did you confirm the dialog with "OK"? Note that' I'm using V3.23.0.0 Pro. Is it possible that this feature was broken in this version? Nope - the version works just fine. Or am I doing something else wrong? Hmmmm, that could be ... See by yourse...

Re: Rotating an object when I don't know the exact angle to rotate

I've got a situation where I want to rotate several objects by an angle I don't know, but I can locate the center and the start and end points of the rotation. Is there a command in QCAD that allows me to do this? Yes - you can use the mouse cursor to define the angle: Select the entities, launch t...

You might want to switch to path based font rendering under:
Edit > Application Preferences > Graphics View > Text Rendering > Render text as paths
I checked that setting on my Win10/64 QCAD Version 3.26.4.0 - unfortunately it shows no improvements. :(

Your actual drawing has no font for the measurements. Please change the Dimension Label Font to Standard or which ever font you like to use for dimensioning.

Re: DXF tiling

Suppose I have a dxf thats 14' x 7 feet. My cutting table is 12 x 8. What kind of drawing is that? Why is the format 14' by 7'? Can it also tile a DXF; automatically? To my knowledge there is not such an automatic function in QCAD. And honestly I don't see why it should have a dxf tile function. De...

Re: Hatch Origin

Is exploding the hatch necessary or not has to be determine with a test hatch. For that draw a rectangle over the absolute 0 point (marked by the QCAD software with a red cross). Put in the hatch, something like this ... Husky-2021.06.06-04.png The red cross shows where the hatch starts it geometry....

Re: Hatch Origin

The origin of a hatch appears to be the origin of the drawing. Is it possible to define the origin of a hatch on a per instance basis rather than using the drawing origin? I often have a need to do this in floor plans and elevations for tiles and bricks. You can select the hatch and use the Propert...

Re: How do I space object evenly along straight/curved lines?

Hi, After I have made a line how do I set it up to evenly space the holes every 5mm, around curves and such? Thank you! Copy your "hole" (Circle) to the clipboard with CP. Paste the "hole" back to your drawing with "Paste along entity" - use your already existing line for a proper placement. When yo...

Re: Drawing Preference Feet Drawing Inches

Also keep in mind that at those kinds of sizes, you probably won't see the dimension text at first because it will be so tiny. If you go to the dimension settings and change the "text height" you can find something that will be visible at that scale. It will probably have to be an extremely large v...

Re: Drawing Preference Feet Drawing Inches

Using inches on a 20 acre plot map gets a bit silly, but I will if I must. I Agree - but you don't have to do that when you use QCAD ability's for your advantage .... How? Start your drawing in "Foot" to draw the map for the acres. If it then comes down to "smaller" things like buildings etc...

Re: Drawing Preference Feet Drawing Inches

Hi, If the project is set to feet, should the default entry be feet unless you indicate inches? Correct. This has been the case for some time over a few versions, but I've just been ignoring it. Now I need it to display properly for a project. Is there another setting that I've missed that needs to ...

Re: Novice: Drawing around an imported image?

Your screenshot is tantalising! Can you amplify on what steps I have to take to reproduce it please? Or point me to a guide or tutorial? I don’t want to spend a month or three learning how to use QCAD’s entire feature set. Just those parts that will let me achieve the modest objective I described. ...

Re: Novice: Drawing around an imported image?

Perhaps this sort of task is outside QCAD's scope? Nope ..... it is no problem for QCAD if you know how to use the provided tools in QCAD. Trying to solve this task with multiple different software solution like Paint Pro, Incscape etc etc opens many ways for an inaccurate result. This example is s...
