Hi CVH
Well that method of using clip to rectangle and then clip to area works, what threw me initially was having to give the opposite points of a rectangle and not just a straight cut line.
thanks Roy

Re: Trim
Hi
I have attached a drawing that I wish to cut in half on the horizontal plane. I have been looking at the breakout tools but with limited success.
I am also looking at the clip to rectangle because my limiting line is horizontal.
thanks Roy

Trim
Hi all Is there a method to trim everything on one side of a line ? So you have a drawing with a row of regular shapes but wish to cut half away, I can do it by working on every part but I thought that maybe there is a better solution, draw a line through where you want to cut and then select the ha...

[Solved]viewports
Thanks everyone
This is now solved. It was so obvious once I was told what I was doing wrong, always the same when the solution is right under your nose! This has opened up an entire new dimension of Qcad that I have not been taking advantage of, such a great feature.
thanks Roy

Re: viewports
Hi Ryan
That has answered my question, I need to set the magnification before placement of the viewport which is where I have been going wrong.
Thanks Roy

[Solved] viewports
Hi all I am using the latest version of Qcad on Windows 10 . I think I have the basic's of using viewports but what I want and what I am getting are different. I thought viewports allow you to have say a main part of the drawing and then other viewports that show detail, which to achieve would mean ...

Re: Unsaved indicator
Hi Andrew I think I was looking at this from the wrong direction, if I have a drawing and switch a layer off then close without saving then the next time I open the drawing it will show that layer I had previously switched off but had I saved as shown by the indicator then it would open as I had pre...

[Solved] Unsaved indicator
This may be something that I have only just noticed but for me it seems like strange behavior but there may well be a good reaon for it. With a drawing open and recently saved, if you turn a layers visability on or off the drawing tab now shows it to be unsaved, this cannot be correct because the dr...

(Solved) Library location
Hi Just had to upgrade my Pc and have re installed Qcad, my question is on a Windows 10 machine can you put your own library components in another directory with your work files or do they have to be in the default location under the Qcad installation directory. The reason I ask is that my C drive i...

[Solved] Modify Move Copy
Hi all Firstly I made a discovery, really helpful. I have always made selections from top left to bottom right and accepted only objects fully within the border will be selected, but the other day for some reason I did the opposite and found that it selects anything it contacts, not just encompasses...

Re: Not copying a layer
Hi Thanks for that feedback, I have never ventured down that path but having now read that part of the manual it makes sense, a means to cleanup a drawing. I am progressing slowly with Qcad and having great success with being productive but I do realise that there are going to be more efficient ways...

Re: Not copying a layer
Hi How can you avoid making this mistake again, my interpretation is that an object has been created, the line but not given a value for it's length property and in doing so it causes these issues. Can you explain a little further please as I cannot be the only one who can make this mistake. thanks ...

Re: Not copying a layer
Hi
Thanks for the assistance and filing a bug report. I can see why it could be a selection issue because it was not selecting all objects but actually being selective in leaving out my layer.
thanks Roy
