Re: grid spacing

I have not done a good job of explaining the issue. Let me try again. No problem making a drawing (so far!). All I want is for my screen to show the scale across the TOP of the drawing area in metric dimensions. And the scale across the LEFT SIDE of the drawing area in metric also. I have changed al...

Re: grid spacing

Husky when I save a screenshot it saves as a png file. The issue is - Despite with all the settings set to mm, the scale at the top and sides of the screen remain shown as ft and inches. It would be helpful if it could be changed to metric when I am following along with Andrew's book. Thanks caster

Re: grid spacing

Husky Thankyou for the reply. I am slow to acknowledge your kind reply. I have been away from the computer due to the holiday here. When I started I had the idea to work in my native feet and inches. Hence, I changed all the settings in EDIT, Drawing Preferences and Application Preferences to feet a...

lost in space

Occasionally I will mess up and lose what I am drawing. It is "somewhere" off the visible screen. Searching for "it" usually finds me "lost in space". I have found time better spent just forgetting about zooming and panning around looking and just open up the last "save" Am I overlooking a zoom all ...

Re: Unknown (to me) error message

Thanks Husky, I had checked these points first, no change.

Thanks also Andrew, I had been drawing on a template file drawing which had a border. No additional block involved I will delete this and try again.

Thanks again to both of you.

Unknown (to me) error message

Recently I have been getting the error message, reproduced below, when I try to continue to work on a drawing. Could you explain what this means, what I am doing wrong and how to clear the problem so I can proceed. "Transaction failed. Please check for block recursions and locked or invisible layers...

Drawing a border on a template dwg

For my empty template drawing how can I add a border and a title block such that I can scale the drawing (drawn at 1:), down to a size suitable for a single 8.5 x 11 inch sheet? Say the front elevation of the part is 12 feet. Say on the next drawing, using this same template drawing the front elevat...

Re: Fitting a dwg to std sheet size

Thanks very much Andrew. This looks like the explanation I needed. I have printed it out and will be working with it tomorrow evening. In reading thru this info, I see it is based on info in the "tips and tutorial section". Briefly going thru this section I see much useful information for future stu...

[solved] Fitting a dwg to std sheet size

I have set up a empty sheet with info such as layers set up the way I wish. But I am having problems understanding how to fit my drawing to this sheet and print it. I have read the manual, but being a bit thick headed I have not grasped how to do this.
Can you clarify this for me. Thanks

How to dimension an enlarged detail

I want to copy out a small section of a larger drawing and scale it up by say by a factor of 3. But when I try to dimension this enlarged detail I seem to be stuck with the dimension values being enlarged by 3 also . How can dimension the enlarged detail with the original dimensions?
