Update well I am making progress, I leafed thru the qcad book some more and did not find anything on viewports. I had to go to drawing preferences and MultiPages -> Columns 1 Rows 3 I had to go to print preview first so i could see where I am pasting the viewport on the page. Then I did as you said ...

Given the dimensions 1/2" = 1FT what would be the best scale?
The steel pattern seems to be either too big or too small around .16

How can I close this loop?

When using the hatch tool to make a new hatch or hatch by segments how do I solve a loop not closed error ?
Is there some kinda of macro I can write to merge all points in a selection that are less than 1000th of an inch or some distance from each-other?

Hi, no need to play around with Linear factor ect. Just break the math down: you will print with a 1/4" = 1' scale on a ANSI B, that scales everything down in your drawing to fit on an ANSI B.
